Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Registered Counsellor?
A Registered Counsellor is registered with the HPCSA (Psychology Board) to provide short-term counselling and psychological support. If you need longer-term or more specialised care, I will help you find the right referral.
How long is a session?
Individual sessions are 55 minutes. Couples sessions are 90 minutes.
Can I claim from my medical aid?
Yes, sessions can be claimed from most South African medical aids. Claims are usually paid from your medical savings account (MSA) rather than your risk benefits, so it is worth checking your available savings with your scheme before you book.
Does online counselling work?
Yes. Online sessions on Zoom work well for most people. All you need is a private space and a stable internet connection.
Is what I say confidential?
Yes, within the legal and ethical limits that apply to all health professionals. I explain these limits in our first session, so you know where you stand.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly online, by email or on WhatsApp.
What is your cancellation policy?
Please give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations and missed sessions are charged in full and cannot be claimed from medical aid.
